How to jump (ft. Rémy Métaillier)
Jumping is the skill riders want most and rush into hardest. The instinct is to carry more speed, hope the takeoff sorts it out, and find out mid-air whether it did. There's a calmer way to teach it, and it starts well before the wheels leave the ground.
In the video below, Ross works with Rémy Métailler on how to think about jumping, the same framework we teach coaches in our AIR certifications. It's a practical look at what makes airtime repeatable, and how to coach it without turning every session into a leap of faith.
At GSMBC we assess every jump through the Triangle of Success: technique, speed, and mind. Can the rider stay balanced and actively work the bike's pressure through the takeoff and landing, rather than just hanging on? Are they carrying the right speed, not simply more of it? And are they actually ready, or just being pushed? Get those three in balance and the jump becomes a decision instead of a gamble. Miss one and no amount of commitment makes up the difference.
