Origins of the PMBIA Program

The Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association (PMBIA) was founded in 2014 by Paul Howard (ZEP Techniques Ltd.), and Darren Butler and Kelli Sherbinin (Endless Biking Ltd.), to establish global standards for mountain-bike instructor certification.  The founders created the original MBIT and PMBI curriculums, manuals, and course-provider framework that became the foundation of the PMBIA training system.

As of January 1, 2025, the founders and their companies are no longer associated with or involved in PMBIA’s operations, management, or governance.
