I recently completed by Advanced Flow (Air) Instructor at Kanuga Bike Park, and it is very clear that GSMBC is investing into it's coaches, as a full-package, rather than just an individual who can instruct a rider on a skill.
GSMBC has placed a big emphasis on their coach's ability to connect with their rider, incorporate the mental-skills side of coaching, and enhance the quality of instruction that the candidates are providing during the certification process. What's the impact?
Most recently, I have found myself, both as a coach, father, and friend, able to describe a skill or maneuver in ways that I couldn't before. Easier for a kid to understand, more "when and how much" for more proficient adults, and a better understanding of riding for my own improvement.
